Yet another defeat came for Leicester City last time out as a late Mikel Merino brace saw Mikel Arteta’s side take all three points at the King Power Stadium. This Friday, February 21, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side host Brentford in a must-win game for the Foxes. Here is the Leicester predicted lineup to take on Thomas Frank’s Bees.

How Leicester City Have Lined-up Recently

Last time out, the Foxes set up in their 4-2-3-1 system, which saw an improvement across the pitch. In between the sticks, Mads Hermansen started for a third successive time after injury. Wout Faes and Caleb Okoli made up a centre-back partnership, for the second time in a row after a solid game at Old Trafford.

Victor Kristiansen started off the left of a back four, whilst James Justin was on the right. However, the latter didn’t make it to the second half due to injury, which led to Woyo Coulibaly finishing the game. Meanwhile, the double pivot of Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumaré was a key part of the Foxes’ defensive success.

Jordan Ayew continued his run of starts off the left this time, with Bobby Decordova Reid on the opposite flank. In the centre, Bilal El Khannouss was ever present as always in trying to further his side in the attacking phase. Rounding off the eleven was Jamie Vardy, who returned after a light injury.

Leicester City’s Recent Form and Tactics

After a late goal away at Manchester United knocked the Foxes out of the F. A Cup, it would be late drama again that led to their defeat. With Ipswich’s draw later that day, this dramatic ending would lead to them moving down to 19th and just two points away from survival.

The first 45 minutes saw both sides struggle to break the other down and have clear-cut chances. Arteta’s Gunners had just four shots, whilst the home side had three; this emphasises the lack of quality on both ends of the pitch. Despite this, the visitors eventually took control and got their goal. The late substitution to bring on Merino as a striker changed the game as the Spaniard bagged a late brace.

Overall, it was a tough ending for a Leicester side that fought so hard. However, the individual quality was enough to see all three points taken.

Leicester City Injuries to Consider

As revealed by Van Nistelrooy, there is just one injury in the squad and that was from last week’s game against Arsenal. Justin is set to be sidelined, which will likely lead to Coulibaly making his first start for the club. In other news, Ricardo Pereira has also returned to training and could be back in the coming weeks.
