Yang Handed Start: Celtic predicted Lineup vs Hibernian for February 22

Celtic’s impressive European run ended on Wednesday night in heart-breaking fashion as a Cameron Carter-Vickers clearance deflected off Alphonso Davies into the net, four minutes into added time. There was a lot to be proud of in a performance that justified the Scottish Champions’ place at the elite level. Behind the scenes at Lennoxtoun, there will be bubbling excitement regarding the European possibilities for the next campaign with more successful recruitment. In the time being, that matter goes on the back burner as there are two trophies to fight for domestically, to complete another treble. First up is an away tie to David Gray’s Hibernian and at Last Word on Football, we provide our Celtic predicted lineup.

Celtic Predicted Lineup vs Hibernian

How Celtic have Lined up Recently

At the Allianz Arena, the major call was at the left back area. After struggling in the opening leg, Greg Taylor’s place was in serious jeopardy. As predicted at Last Word on Football, Jeffrey Schlupp came in and barely put a foot wrong all night. Michael Olise was silenced, with Bayern only beginning to get joy down that side when Leroy Sane was introduced.

Alistair Johnson, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty started alongside him.

In midfield, as expected, Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Arne Engels took to the field. All three excelled, particularly Engels, who is now justifying his hefty price tag.

Nicolas Kuhn, who got the all-important goal, limped off in the second half, with Daizen Maeda and Jota forming the front three.

Celtic’s Recent Form and Tactics

Domestically, the Bhoys are in brilliant form, with five straight wins and a positive goal difference of sixteen in the process.

In midweek’s one-all draw in Munich, we saw the polished article of this Celtic side. Away to Borussia Dortmund, they tirelessly pressed but lacked the compactness to put last year’s finalists under any pressure.

Away to Atalanta, they were incredibly compact but failed to put the Italian’s backline under pressure.

Yet, away to Bayern Munich, they hunted in packs but kept a tightness that prevented space to play through.

Over the two legs, one man who deserves a load of credit is Hatate. The twenty-seven-year-old ran tirelessly, closing down the passing avenues through the midfield.

Another was Jeffrey Schlupp, he has fitted in seamlessly since joining on loan, so much so that there may be an appetite to make more of the deal come the Summer.
