Chelsea Suffer Blow As ‘Unbelievable’ Star Out For Lengthy Period With Injury Issue

Chelsea are pushing to strengthen their chances of securing a place in the Premier League top-4 in the final stretch of the 2024/25 season. However, they’ve now suffered a major setback when it comes to regular number nine Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea Announce Nicolas Jackson Injury Blow

How Many Weeks Will Jackson Be Out For?

The 23-year-old forward sustained an injury in Chelsea’s recent 2-1 win over West Ham United in the league. He was not even in the squad for their loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup. Enzo Maresca has now delivered a damning statement on Jackson’s situaton, claiming that he will miss multiple months of action because of a hamstring injury.

Ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming league game against the Seagulls, the Italian coach stated: “Nico will be out until the international break, probably available after.  We knew that it was a muscular probably but we didn’t know how important [bad] it was because his feeling, his reaction, was quite good. We all thought that was not a big injury but unfortunately he had a scan a few days ago, it is an important one and it will be around six-to-eight weeks.”

This statement indicates that Jackson will be out until April (2025) and is going to miss a huge chunk of the Blues’ remaining matches.

How Will Chelsea Cope Without Jackson?

Chelsea will be affected by the absence of the Senegalese forward, who has been an important part of the squad under Maresca. This should open up more regular playing opportunities for Christopher Nkunku, who was being linked to a possible exit in the January transfer window.  They are a bit short-staffed in that centre-forward role after offloading Joao Felix to AC Milan in the winter window too.

Jackson could end up missing as many as six to seven Premier League matches during his absence because of the injury. That includes important matches against the likes of Brighton, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The 23-year-old, who was hailed as “unbelievable” earlier this season, scored nine goals and provided five assists in 23 league games for Chelsea before his injury.
