Leicester City academy graduate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea this summer after a scintillating campaign in the Championship. But due to limited game time for his new club, he could be set for a new destination this January.
Chelsea Open to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall Offers
A Tough Start To Life At Chelsea
The 26-year-old rose through the ranks at boyhood club Leicester City before breaking into the club’s first team. His time with the Foxes saw highs in Europe as they reached the Conference League Semi-Final. However, it also saw one of the club’s lowest moments recently as they were relegated in 2023. But after a terrific season under Enzo Maresca, the “aggressive midfielder” would help his side win the Championship as he made the league’s team of the year. Due to the Italian manager’s departure to Chelsea, he would also follow him for the 2024/25 season.
With the Blues, he has played just 15 times with ten of those appearances coming in cup competitions. With limited success on the pitch, it is no surprise that the ambitious midfielder could be on his way out.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Enzo Maresca’s side has notified the player of his availability on the transfer market, with the right deal being necessary for finalising his move.
What Went Wrong At Chelsea for Dewsbury-Hall?
Last season, Dewsbury-Hall played a much more advanced role under Maresca. He played as a number 10 for a lot of the season and this saw his best output as a player as he tallied 27 goals and assists. With Leicester’s PSR issues and Maresca joining Chelsea a move made sense but it doesn’t seem to have worked.
In the Premier League, he has made five appearances off the bench with 56 minutes played. Most of his minutes have come in Europe but in a different position to last season. He has often been utilised in a pivot with former Leicester teammate Cesare Casadei, which doesn’t play to his strengths when looking at his attacking capabilities.

Whilst the lack of minutes seems questionable when he was bought for around £30 million, it did also seem expected. Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market recently and there is no space for the former Leicester man. The likes of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku and Enzo Fernandez cost way more and as a result, will earn more game time as they are better players. It’s a harsh situation for Dewsbury-Hall to be dismissed after such a short time but a move elsewhere could fulfil his ambitions in the top flight of English Football.
Where Could He End Up
After proving his quality in the second tier of English football and racking up over 280 appearances overall, Dewsbury-Hall’s signature may be highly contested. There were links to Aston Villa back in December as they are looking to strengthen their midfield options as their journey in the Champions League is still alive.

West Ham have also been linked since the recent news. This is a side out of form and with a new manager, so it could be a great option for the Englishman to establish himself. Furthermore, a move to the Hammers on loan or permanently would also allow him to regularly play and become a pivotal part of a competitive team.
