Spiky Ruben Amorim refuses to clarify Man Utd transfer frustration

Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Liverpool for January 5

Manchester United face a daunting trip to Anfield to face rampant rivals Liverpool this Sunday, January 5 (KO 4.30PM GMT) in what many United fans fear could be a repeat of the 7-0 mauling handed out in 2023. Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the clash between rivals in the most extremely contrasting form imaginable.

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, André Onana has been the mainstay in goal for the Red Devils. In defence, three of Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Lény Yoro and Lisandro Martinez have played at centre-back, with Mazraoui increasingly being used at right wing-back as defenders return from injury. Diogo Dalot, despite a difficult period of form mirroring the team’s struggles as a whole, has been the regular left wing-back.

In midfield, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have been competing for two spots, with coach Ruben Amorim yet to find a solution that combines both the energy and technical ability needed to control that area of the pitch.

Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Bruno Fernandes have rotated in the attacking midfield roles, with Alejandro Garnacho and wantaway Marcus Rashford seemingly out of favour with the coach of late. Rasmus Hojlund continues as the main man at number 9.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

The Red Devils’ recent form has quite simply been catastrophic, with four consecutive defeats in all competitions seeing them occupy 14th position, just seven points off the relegation zone. A foreboding trip to their rivals who are currently flying high at the summit of the Premier League is not ideal, especially with United’s weaknesses such as a lack of dynamism in attack and inability to control midfield as well as deal with opposition set-pieces ready to be ruthlessly exposed by Arne Slot’s on-fire side.

With no goals in three games, it’s almost impossible to see Amorim’s toothless outfit change their fortunes on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Marcus Rashford is set to miss yet another game, this time through illness. Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are all out for indefinite periods.
