Newcastle United Eye ‘Ridiculous’ Talent with ‘Incredible Skillset’ Amid Isak Uncertainty - Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup v Ipswich Town for December 21

With seven goals in their last two games, Newcastle travel to Portman Road on a high to face an Ipswich side full of confidence after winning a crucial game against Wolves at Molineux last weekend. Here is our Newcastle United predicted lineup as the Geordies continue to chase down a European spot in the table.

Newcastle Utd Predicted Lineup Vs Ipswich Town for December 21.

How Newcastle Lined Up Against Brentford in Midweek

Martin Dubravka continued in goal in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at the expense of Nick Pope who suffered a knee injury in Newcastle’s defeat to Brentford in their last away trip two weeks ago. The Magpies were able to build on their excellent four-goal win over Leicester by putting three past Brentford to reach the semi-final. Kieran Trippier is slowly getting back to full fitness and could threaten Tino Livramento for the right-back slot.

A draw against Palace and a defeat against Brentford is poor form in their last two away outings. As a partnership in central defence, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn are as effective as they come, and they also have a massive outlet at left-back. Lewis Hall has an exceptional understanding with Anthony Gordon and is often part of the Geordie threat in the last third.

Joelinton picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at St James Park last weekend when the home side were so impressive in their thumping four-nil win over Leicester City and misses out through suspension. At St James Park last weekend, the midfield of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali were totally dominant against a poor Leicester side. Joe Willock should take Joelinton’s place.

A front three of Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have played in the last couple of games, will Eddie Howe stick with them for the third time in a week? One pair of fresh legs may well be considered.

Newcastle’s Recent Form and Tactics

Newcastle will line up in a 4-3-3 formation and will accept being favourites for this one. Eddie Howe will be wary though, his team have picked up just one point from their last two away games, conceding an injury-time equaliser to Crystal Palace and then on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline against Brentford at the Gtech.

As we head towards the Christmas period, newly promoted Ipswich have still to win at Portman Road, Newcastle will look to take advantage of their fragility. It’s possible Harvey Barnes may start ahead of Anthony Gordon given he scored in a rare start away from home last time round at Brentford.

Newcastle Injuries and Suspensions to Consider

Joelinton has been in fine form, I watched him play a number of killer passes into Alexander Isak last weekend against Leicester and he’ll be missed through suspension. Callum Wilson joins Sven Botman, Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles on the sidelines. Prevention of injuries rather than a cure is always the best solution for players, it’s possible Harvey Barnes may start to take the workload off Anthony Gordon.
