Chelsea Women Predicted Lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion for December 8

The Women’s Super League returns from an international break with a tasty looking fixture between Chelsea Women and high-fliers Brighton. The Seagulls have been spurred on by Blues icon Fran Kirby with five goal contributions in eight outings for the English talent. Sonia Bompastor has a slightly banged up squad to deal with which could make this one tricky.

How Chelsea Women Have Lined Up Recently

Hannah Hampton and Zecira Musovic have shared the goalkeeping duties. In the defence, Ashley Lawrence, Sandy Baltimore, Maelys Mpome, Millie Bright, Nathalie Bjorn, Lucy Bronze, and Eve Perisset all getting starts. The centre of the defence is slightly bare following an injury to regular starter Kadeisha Buchanan.

In midfield, Wieke Kaptein, Oriane Jean-Francois, Erin Cuthbert, and Sjoeke Nusken tend to start in the deeper roles. Maika Hamano has been trusted as the attacking midfielder in the middle with Guro Reiten out left and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd on the right. Aggie Beever-Jones and Mayra Ramirez have been used as the strikers. Cat Macario also started as one against Celtic despite usually playing behind the striker.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Bompastor has generally stuck to her 4-3-3 setup although she used a slightly off-kilter 3-5-2 against Celtic before reverting to form. Her system tends to dominate possession with two midfielders and defenders pushing up to help win the ball back high. The defensive midfielder and centre-backs are then tasked with cutting out any danger.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

The manager confirmed that Niamh Charles is fit to return but ruled both Lauren James and Sam Kerr out until 2025. Other long-term absentees include Sophie Ingle, Mia Fishel, Aniek Nouwen, and Buchanan. Ramirez went off injured for her country and no update was given on her status, Hamano is ill and could also miss out.
