Newcastle vs Arsenal Confirmed Lineups for September 28

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Liverpool for December 4

After winning so convincingly against title holders Manchester City at Anfield, everyone is now referring to Liverpool as champions-elect. Next up is a trip to the north-east to face an inconsistent Newcastle United side having to cope with a couple of injuries to key players. Here is our Newcastle United predicted lineup for the Magpies’ home Premier League fixture against league leaders Liverpool on December 4.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Liverpool

How Newcastle United Lined up at Selhurst Park

Dan Burn was recalled in place of Lloyd Kelly for the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday. In front of Nick Pope, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have been terrific with Fabian Schar alongside Burn in the heart of defence. Getting the balance right to be more creative from middle to front has been a problem for Eddie Howe and more changes are expected for this one.

An injury-time equaliser was conceded against Palace to leave European hopefuls Newcastle returning to Tyneside with just the one point. Sandro Tonali was also recalled to Eddie Howe’s starting eleven to play alongside captain Bruno Guimaraes. Who comes out on top of their contest in the middle of the park with Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will be a big feature of the game. Joe Willock started in that 1-1 draw but with a clash against Liverpool, it’s possible the defensive qualities of Sean Longstaff will see him return to the side.

Newcastle United Injuries and Absentees to Consider

Alexander Isak is the biggest concern for the Toon Army given that the Swedish striker lasted only twenty-two minutes against Palace before being replaced by Harvey Barnes. Isak’s hip injury was confirmed by the club to be one of contact rather than a pulled muscle so he shouldn’t be out for too long.

The unwanted change meant Antony Gordon played through the middle in place of Isak but the likelihood is that Calum Wilson will play from the start in this one after recovering from a back injury and getting the last fifteen minutes of the draw with Palace. Howe is desperate to see more of a goal threat from his team with a poor return of just 14 goals from their opening 13 league games.

Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth are all still missing with a return date for all three sometime in January.

Newcastle United Recent Form and Tactics

The positive take is that Newcastle have ambition to get involved in European competition again and are just four points from a place in the top four. But the lack of a cutting edge is costing them dearly.

They’ve lost three and drawn one of their last six Premier League ties and haven’t won in 15 games against Liverpool stretching back nine years. Interestingly, Newcastle have conceded the same amount of league goals as both Arsenal and Chelsea, fourteen from the opening thirteen league games.
