The journalist claims that personal terms between the 27-year-old midfielder and the Spanish side are going to be discussed in the days to come. It is also added that the initial transfer fee for the deal will be low, but that some “easy add-ons” could take it up to £4.2 million. Romano also states that this fee could rise to potentially as high as £12.6 million if all the clauses in the transfer are met. For that to happen, Van de Beek will have to perform at a high level at Girona and make a lots of appearances as well as contribute a high number of goals and assists.
Which Players Are United Looking To Sign?
The Red Devils are yet to make a signing for the summer window, but they are seemingly looking to get some deals done. The Premier League heavyweights are also being linked with a possible move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee to strengthen their frontline. But United will look to clear out their squad this summer, especially when it comes to underperforming players like Van de Beek. The 27-year-old has failed to match expectations since joining the Red Devils in 2020, only being restricted to 62 appearances and having four goal contributions (two goals, two assists). He spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt and doesn’t seem to have any future at Old Trafford.
