What did Ten Hag Have to Say About Mount?

The English midfielder surprised many last year when he opted to leave his childhood club Chelsea to join the Red Devils to embark on a new journey in his career. He has been plagued with injuries so far this season, but recently scored his first goal for United in their 1-1 draw against Brentford.

Erik ten Hag was compelled to make an interesting revelation of Mount’s move to Old Trafford recently, as he said: “I don’t think Chelsea wanted to sell him. They wanted to keep him and offered him a new contract many times. But he wanted to make this step. He’s a fantastic football player. It’s important first that he’s getting and keeping fit. You see it now with Licha (Martinez), you want to avoid that. So you have to do it very carefully. We want to use him so he can have benefit and have a contribution to the team, as he did on Saturday.”

How Has Mount’s Time at Manchester United Gone so Far?

The 25-year-old midfielder was given a huge responsibility upon arriving at United, with the club giving him their prized number seven shirt in his first season. However, his debut campaign at the club has not gone according to plan. He has made only 14 appearances in all competitions, in which the Englishman has scored one goal and provided one assist.

He also missed many months of action due to injuries, but seems primed to be able to play well for the final stretch of the campaign. Mount, who was hailed as “top class” by Frank Lampard last year, had made 195 appearances for Chelsea in his time at Stamford Bridge, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists.
