Injury Boost for Oxford United

Ahead of a trip to Blackpool, U’s head coach was set to welcome back several key players from injury.

Goalkeeper Jamie Cumming was available, as was defender Sam Long following concussion protocols after the injury he suffered against Barnsley.

Josh Murphy and Billy Bodin would also make the matchday squad at Bloomfield Road and there would be a first appearance for January signing, Will Goodwin. Joe Bennett should be available next week.

Young Striker Joins National League Club on Loan

On Friday, Oxford United striker Gatlin O’Donkor joined National League side Barnet on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old, who signed a long-term contract earlier this season, has struggled for game time for the U’s.

Despite making 26 appearances, the young striker has started on just three occasions, all of which came in cup competitions.

Speaking to the club’s official website, head Coach Des Buckingham said: “Gatlin needs regular game time and with Barnet doing well at the right end of the National League this is an exciting move for him and will help his future development.”

Blackpool Draw

Oxford’s winless run has stretched to five games but it was a good point on the road at Blackpool.

The Seasiders, who boast the best home record in the division, took the lead but Mark Harris equalised just moments later.

Harris, Tyler Goodrham and Billy Bodin squandered chances to win the game, while Jamie Cumming was kept busy at the other end, making one outstanding save.

The result keeps Des Buckingham’s side outside the top six ahead of matches against Wigan and Wycombe next week.
