Wolves are preparing a late loan bid for Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians. The club are looking to bolster their attacking options, according to John Percy at The Telegraph.

Gary O’Neil has been vocal about the need for a new striker. In his press conference prior to hosting Manchester United in the league on February 1, the manager said:
“Touch wood, we have one of the best injury records in the league, but things can happen. When we lost Neto you heard the whole of Wolverhampton gasp. We don’t have loads of attacking players, not enough ideally for me.”

The transfer window is almost closed, and the Black Country side have been linked with a host of strikers, including Armando Broja. But a combination of strict finances and those players finding form (boosting their transfer value) has meant that no mythical striker has materialised.
There is a strong incentive for The Wanderers to get a deal over the line, and the prospect of a loan-now pay-later deal could be most appealing.
Who is Yuri Alberto?
The 22-year-old striker has scored 20 goals in 59 appearances for the Brazilian side Corinthians since joining them initially on loan and then permanently in 2023. He enjoyed a season in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg but has played most of his football in South America, coming through the Santos academy. He made his senior international debut in 2023, replacing Lucas Paqueta in the 85th minute in a 2-1 defeat to Morocco in a friendly.

When you watch him play – he is unconventional but effective. He works hard from the front and knows where the goal is. Alberto possesses impressive movement off the ball while also showcasing flair on the ball. He is at his most effective in a team that looks to press from the front.
