Bayern Munich Set to Miss Out On Player Who Is Arguably ‘The Best Right-Back in Europe’

Allianz Arena- Bayern Munich vs Manchester United Predicted Lineup

A last-place finish in their Champions League group, coupled with a disappointing 10th-place standing in the table, is not what Newcastle United had hoped would transpire in their first half of the season. Eddie Howe will need a strong January showing, in both the league and transfer window, to recover.

Details from Germany Suggest Progress Had Been Made

Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Sports Germany, reported that “FC Bayern have submitted an improved offer for Kieran Trippier.” The Bavarian club are off to a slow start this campaign, but aims to improve their defence in hopes of topping the Bundesliga as well as competing for the Champions League title.

Newcastle would have been left with a gap in their defence if Bayern completed their pursuit of Trippier. He has, as recently as last year, been regarded as possibly “the best right-back in Europe.

English Outlet Adds Update

Not long after several other reports broke the news that Bayern were improving their efforts to sign the Englishman, David Ornstein stated in an article for The Athletic that “Newcastle United have rejected a £12.8 million offer” from the German outfit.

Ornstein noted at the time that “Newcastle have been adamant that Trippier won’t be sold this month.” Negotiations between the two sides continued, but appear to be at an end.

Trippier Not for Sale

Fabrizio Romano reported what has the potential to be the last update in the Trippier saga. He stated that the “Negotiations no longer taking place between Bayern and Newcastle.” The English side will hold onto their prized defender while the Germans must look elsewhere.

Romano further clarified Newcastle’s stance, noting that the 33-year-old is “not for sale.” Howes can now rely on the veteran to help lead a second-half charge that could bring his club back into the European spots of the table. If he remains in top fitness, and they perform well in the FA Cup, the right-back has a strong chance of making his 100th appearance as a Magpie this season.
