The journalist further claims that Clarke is actually a long-term target for David Moyes, but that it will take a “significant offer” from the Premier League side to get the Championship playoff hopefuls to sell their important player. The 22-year-old left-winger, who was hailed as “one of the best” players in the second division recently, is Sunderland’s top scorer with 12 goals scored in 26 appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats, who are currently holding onto a playoff spot in the division.

Mohammed Kudus is currently on international duty to participate in the African Cup of Nations and could be away until February if Ghana reach the final, while Michail Antonio will miss another month of action with an injury setback.

Clarke, who has impressed as a goal-scoring left-winger for Sunderland this season, can definitely add more firepower to their frontline but it remains to be seen if the club are ready to spend big money on him.
