How Bayern Munich Have Lined Up Recently

Leon Goretzka started as centre-back alongside Dayot Upamecano. Meanwhile, Raphael Guerreiro made his first start for the club as holding midfielder next to Joshua Kimmich. Finally, Mathys Tel, Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman, and Harry Kane made up the front four.

Bayern Munich Recent Form and Tactics

Wednesday’s scoreless draw against Copenhagen ended a four-game winning streak for Bayern in all competitions. The team did not play as comfortably in recent matches, largely due to enforced squad rotation. Last Friday’s 1-0 win over bottom of the table 1.FC Koln was another example of that, as a number of players were rested, after just returning from international duty.

In Friday’s press conference, coach Thomas Tuchel told reporters that he did not intend for that rotation to continue for the last remaining matches ahead of the winter break. 4-2-3-1 will likely continue to be his formation of choice.

Bayern Munich Injuries to Consider

The coach also told the press that he expects Min-jae Kim, Noussair Mazraoui, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to return to the squad, after they had suffered minor injuries just ahead of the Copenhagen matchup. Tuchel also revealed that Jamal Musiala was ready to make a  potential substitute appearance, after having been out for several weeks. That leaves Matthijs de Ligt as the only player left on Bayern’s injury list for now.
