The Gunners Are in the Market for a Striker
As per Romano, Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to add a striker to their ranks in 2024. Despite Gabriel Jesus’ abilities on and off the ball, the Gunners have lacked a prolific goalscorer. Their over-reliance on goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli could hinder their chances of capturing the Premier League title.
This could force the North London side to look for reinforcements elsewhere and Osimhen fits the mold of a striker that Arteta would want.
Past Interactions With Victor Osimhen’s Agent
The transfer insider adds that the Nigerian’s agent held talks with Arsenal over a potential move, a little over a year ago. The Gunners were also heavily interested in him when he was playing in the French league for Lille. However, due to Financial Fair Play constraints, a January move may not materialize.
In addition to this, Gli Azzurri are not interested in parting ways with their star striker in the middle of the season. Romano reports that despite this, anything can happen in the summer.
Interest From Chelsea
Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea, are also reportedly interested in signing a striker. Depending on how the Ivan Toney transfer saga unfolds, we could see another massive bidding war for the 24-year-old who is valued at around £104 million.
