He has stated that “it’s important to say” that there is no evidence about these links being authentic for the time being. The journalist adds that Chelsea are not going to make any plans on whom they want to sign next summer right now and that Barcelona are not desperate to sell any players for the time being either.

Romano adds that Gavi and Pedri are considered vital parts of Blaugrana’s future project and that there isn’t much concrete evidence to suggest a departure is near. Despite the La Liga side facing financial troubles, they do not seem to be considering selling the Spain international.

Chelsea are reported to be interested in Brentford striker Ivan Toney and can make a move for him in the winter window, with the Englishman’s current ban set to end during that period. With the London side struggling for goals this season, signing a striker in January could significantly improve their attacking output. However, it doesn’t look like they’re keen right now on a move for Gavi – who was hailed as a “total footballer” by Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez earlier this year.
