An empty Stamford Bridge

This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their September 17 clash with Bournemouth. Following the international break the Blues are looking to spark back to life following a disappointing start to the season.

How Chelsea have Lined Up Recently

Injuries aside there have been some settled names on the team sheet. Robert Sanchez has occupied the goals while in front of him there has been a back four of Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, and Malo Gusto. The defensive midfield pairing of choice is any two of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Conor Gallagher.

Nicolas Jackson has been leading the line while behind him there is some uncertainty due to injuries and new signings. Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling have occupied the flanks while Carney Chukwuemeka and others have taken a turn at the number ten role.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino is playing a very lopsided 4-2-3-1 to mixed results. Utilising Colwill as the left back and pushing Chilwell forward means there’s five defenders on the pitch but only four in the back line.

This formation hasn’t brought the results that many wanted as the Blues got their season off to a poor start, losing to West Ham and Nottingham Forest in two of their last three league games.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

As is always the case the injured list at Stamford Bridge is a mile long. Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana remain sidelined long-term.  Romeo Lavia’s debut will have to wait while Carney Chukwuemeka, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badisahile, and Armando Broja are not yet fit to return.

On an interesting note, Caicedo is currently being assessed after international duty and may be a doubt to play based on his fitness. Marcus Bettinelli appears to be the only other absence as Mykhailo Mudryk played for Ukraine over the break, signalling his return to fitness.
