Reports from his home country have stated that another two women have accused Antony of violence. One woman has claimed that she needed hospital treatment after being assaulted by the United player and a woman in his car. Another has alleged that he attempted to pressure her into sex and pushed her against a wall in his home.

The 23-year-old has been dropped from his national side by the Brazillian Confederation, who issued the following statement:

“Due to the facts that became public this Monday, involving striker Antony, from Manchester United, and which need to be investigated, and in order to preserve the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian team and the CBF, the entity informs that the athlete has been withdrawn from the Brazilian team.”

Antony has denied Cavallin’s accusations on social media, insisting that he is innocent and that the allegations against him are “false”.

When asked whether he had headbutted Cavallin as she has alleged, he responded: “No I didn’t headbutt her. At no point did I headbutt her.”

The Brazillian outlet also queried him on the accusation of the woman who claimed he pushed her against a wall and attempted to have sex with her, to which he responded: “Negative. Negative. I’m 100% certain that I never touched any woman”. “I am certain. I will produce the proof and people will understand. They will see the truth.”

Man Utd Response to Antony Allegations Leaves Plenty of Questions

After reports that claims against Antony were being investigated by police in Sao Paulo and in Manchester, United issued a club statement on their website:

“Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.

Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments. As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse.”

It is unclear whether the Red Devils will continue to allow Antony to feature while investigations into his conduct continue. With the Brazillian national side prepared to drop the player, it may be hard for the club to justify keeping him in the playing squad until investigations are concluded, although it is uncertain when that may be.
