Tottenham Hotspur Make Trevoh Chalobah Approach

Will Chelsea Sell Chalobah to Spurs?

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham have made an “approach” to Chelsea for the signing of their young defender Trevoh Chalobah. This comes after reports from Sky Sports that the Englishman’s proposed move to Bayern Munich fell through on transfer deadline day.

The journalist claims that Spurs want to sign him on loan, but that the deal is difficult due to him being a rival player. He also adds that they do not have the approval of the Blues yet over this deal and have not agreed upon the “formula” of the deal either. Romano later claimed that Chelsea were at the time saying ‘no’ to the deal.

Romano states that this is a complicated deal and that another Premier League side in the form of Nottingham Forest are still pushing to sign Chalobah on a permanent basis after seeing him fail to join Bayern. However, the journalist reiterates that the centre-back has not given his green light to a possible move to Forest amid uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Despite all this, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has also confirmed that Spurs are tentatively exploring a late deal to sign the Englishman. He reported that initial contacts have been made between the two rivals over a possible deal.

What Else Are Spurs Working On?

Tottenham have been quite busy on the transfer deadline day, trying to secure arrangements for multiple last-minute deals. The Lilywhites are claimed to have struck an agreement with Forest over the signing of their young forward Brennan Johnson and that deal is now expected to go through before the window ends.

They have already loaned out Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United. When it comes to the signing of Chalobah, however, a lot will have to go Spurs’ way for them to sign him.

The 24-year-old has been left in an awkward position after failing to join the Bavarians and seeing himself fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after the arrival of Axel Disasi this summer. Chalobah, who was hailed as a “soldier” by Graham Potter last season, has not made any appearances for the London side this season.

The latest on the move from Romano’s livestream is that the deal is in fact over. The defender will be staying at Stamford Bridge barring any huge change.
