The Times Tom Roddy claims that Brentford are poised to receive bids from Premier League clubs for striker Ivan Toney, who is currently banned from playing due to breaching betting rules. He also states that Arsenal and Spurs are in the running for the Englishman.

According to the report, Tottenham are keen on signing the 27-year-old despite his controversial past, and that could be because they see him as an ideal replacement for Kane. However, they face competition from their North London rivals, who are said to be keeping tabs on the situation.
Toney’s ban will be lifted in January, after which he can start playing again for any club in the Premier League. Roddy adds that those around the English forward believe he has what it takes to play for a top-6 side in the league and had expected him to leave for a major club before he got banned. The report mentions Brentford value him at around £80 million.

How Can Toney Fit In at Tottenham?
Toney started his football journey at League Two club Northampton Town. He had a failed stint at Newcastle United before going on to play for League One sides like Barnsley and Shrewsbury Town, before having his breakthrough season for Peterborough United in the 2019-20 season, scoring 24 goals in the League One.
Brentford signed him in 2020, and he has been on fire for the Bees. The 27-year-old has scored 68 goals and provided 21 assists in 124 appearances for them, including 20 goals in the Premier League last season. He has averaged 16 goals – across the two previous league campaigns, scoring in big games and showcasing impressive consistency. The centre-forward is an efficient finisher and excels with his link-up play and movement in the final third.

The 27-year-old appears to have all the skills needed to be an ideal replacement for Kane, having proven himself as a clinical goal-scorer at Brentford.
