Manchester United Now Considering Move for ‘Physical Monster’ Amid Rumours of Juventus Targeting Sofyan Amrabat

The most recent update on a move for Sofyan Amrabat seems to indicate that Juventus are the frontrunners, leaving the Red Devils to look for alternatives, and one of these options includes Everton’s Amadou Onana, according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail.

It has been a fruitful window thus far for the club, with Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana brought in to plug the holes in their respective positions. Mason Mount adds another creative spark in midfield, but it seems the club’s business is not done, with more incomings and outgoing seeming likely.

United appear to have moved on from Amrabat and are now looking closer to home for a player with Premier League experience. Mount and Bruno Fernandes have the advanced positions covered, so it is a defensive-minded midfield player the club looks to desire.

Is Onana ready to play at a higher level?

Everton’s Onana was one of the few players who impressed as the Toffees narrowly avoided relegation last season. The player, who has been described as a “physical monster” is still only 21 years old but is developing into an exceptional talent who can break up play and is strong in the air. The former Lille player averaged 2.2 tackles per game in last season’s Premier League, the third-highest for Sean Dyche’s side.

Casemiro has missed games through suspension, so he cannot be relied upon for the entire season. Moving to a bigger side with better players will help Onana to bring his game to the next level, with a place in Belgium’s midfield up for grabs. He made 33 appearances in the previous campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Those who have followed his progress in his first season have seen that he is more than ready to play at a higher level. If Amrabat does indeed move to Serie A, there are very few players available that have more potential and talent than Onana. Chelsea were interested earlier in the transfer window but have seemingly moved on to other targets.
