Arsenal Set to Make Another Signing With Star Ready to Sign Deal as New Player – Medical Underway

'Next Top Player' - Arsenal 'Discussions Ongoing' to Secure £77 Million-Rated Star's Future - Martin Odegaard

According to Fabrizio Romano on Substack, Arsenal’s new signing David Raya has completed the main part of his medical at The Emirates. This brings the Spaniard a step closer to a permanent move to the Gunners, with a long-term contract expected to be signed soon.

Arsenal Set to Sign David Raya from Brentford

Why Arsenal Are Signing David Raya

Raya is set to be a significant signing for Mikel Arteta’s side, and it’s easy to see why. His time at Brentford saw him excel, with the keeper vastly outperforming his expected goals conceded and having one of the highest save percentages in Europe’s top five leagues. This, combined with his high level of touches and relatively high passing numbers, mean that the Spaniard can slot right into Arsenal’s system without having to spend too much time adapting.

Do Arsenal Need a Goalkeeper?

One of the areas that the Gunners are currently lacking is in net. Aaron Ramsdale was comfortably the number one choice in goal last season, with American stopped Matt Turner not often challenging him for minutes. By signing The Bees’ number one, Arteta’s side look set to increase their levels even further, with both Ramsdale and his new Spanish teammate being forced to up their level in order to get the minutes that they hope for.

Is This the End of Arsenal Transfer Business?

Arsenal’s leadership has had a great window, completing a lot of their business as early as possible. Signing Kai Havertz and Declan Rice is a show of serious strength in midfield, with Jurrien Timber’s entrance ensuring that the back line is in the best possible condition. The side’s business isn’t yet complete, however, with Folarin Balogun being on the receiving end of interest from clubs including Inter. Whilst the playing squad looks in good condition, some outgoings are yet to come.
