Winning the Europa Conference League last season was a big accomplishment for West Ham. Securing European silverware, even if it was the third-ranked competition, gave The Hammers something to brag about. Building on that success requires the addition of skilled players.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano posted about a potential signing, Mexican centre-back and defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez. Medical tests for the player have already been booked, and the fee was previously agreed on between West Ham and Ajax.

Big Fee for Potentially Big Player
At a reported £34 million, Alvarez arrives with weighty expectations. David Moyes’ charges will be competing in the Europa League and the Premier League. Balancing two campaigns like that can cause turmoil for a team that does not possess the necessary depth to handle the wear and tear of two major competitions.

Alvarez will need to be at his best to keep his new club afloat this year. The Mexican international and former Concacaf Gold Cup winner is seen as a replacement for Declan Rice, who left for another London-based Premier League club in this summer transfer window.
A Big Move
Normally a bottom-half finish in the table would not thrust a club into the spotlight, but as winners of a European competition West Ham are living with more eyes on them than usual.

With the Italian journalist guaranteeing that the midfielder “will become new West Ham player” the Irons’ fanbase is on the edge of their seats. The English side are gaining a promising new player who joins the team with a winning mentality. Alvarez, the Mexican starlet, jumps to a major league. He also joins a team who can pay him big money and a bigger stage.
