The club have already made a name for themselves this transfer window. They had high hopes of building a solid squad following their fourth-place finish last season. The agreement with AC Milan for midfield Sandro Tonali has been one of the highlights of the transfer window so far.
The Magpies have been spending big to achieve their goals since being purchased by Saudi Arabian investors in 2021. The influx of stars has seen their stature in English and European football rise.
Not all of their transfers have been incoming. Fan favourite striker Chris Wood completed a move to Nottingham Forest this summer after spending last season on loan there. In addition to Wood, it appears that winger Allan Saint-Maximin could also be leaving this window

What Eddie Howe’s side lacked was goals. They were not last in that metric, but they were certainly not leading the league in goalscoring last season. The potential departure of Saint-Maximin would certainly mess up their attacking force. The top three scorers from last season, and currently projected attacking three for the next campaign are Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak.

The latest transfer update on Saint-Maximin has given fans an inside look at the current situation. It would appear that Al-Ahli are closing in on the signing of the Frenchman. According to Romano, the Saudi Pro League side have made an official bid for the player, currently totalling £21 million with negotiations soon moving to the “crucial stages”.
