Manchester United Set to Lose Out on Harrison Parker

Manchester City Poised to Beat Multiple Clubs for Parker

The two Manchester rivals have not partaken in a direct transfer over many decades, with players like Owen Hargreaves and Carlos Tevez mostly using the free transfer technique to move to the other side of the city.

However, Romano claims that the Citizens have taken the lead to prise away the 2006-born centre-back from their bitter enemies. It’s added that they are nearing an agreement to sign him and that Pep Guardiola’s team has managed to beat out competition from four clubs for the 16-year-old.

Romano also reports that the Red Devils had desperately tried to deny this from happening and actually offered Parker the highest package among any of the clubs interested in him. That itself shows their desperation to keep him and help the youngster with his development. But it appears that the centre-back got swayed by the European champions and is close to joining them.

Who Is Harrison Parker?

Originally a product of the Arsenal youth academy, the teenager spent nine years developing his skills with the North London club before opting to join the Red Devils in 2021. He had to undergo a trial and impressed the United coaches enough to warrant a move to the Manchester club.

The 16-year-old had been catching attention with his bright performances for the side and even made three appearances for their U-18 outfit last season. Romano personally labels him as a ‘top talented centre-back’ – indicating that he is highly rated by many in England. This move could be a way for City to get back at their rivals, who are reportedly set to prise away the twin sons of club legend Darren Fletcher from their academy. It’s clear that the rivalry is well and truly on at this level, as the Citizens will focus on getting Parker’s signing over the line and helping him realize his full potential at their club.
