Tottenham Hotspur will reject the latest offer for star striker Harry Kane, according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano. Despite Bayern Munich raising their original offer for the England captain, Romano has said it is guaranteed to not be enough.

Guaranteed Not Enough

It was recently reported, first by Florian Plettenberg and then by Romano, that the Bundesliga champions had approached the Lillywhites with a second offer for their record scorer. The latest offer was believed to be around £68.5 million, an increase of around £8.5 million from their first offer. This was also not including possible add-ons.

However, the Italian has reported that the club will reject this offer. Posting on his Twitter, he stated that sources close to the situation have guaranteed the proposed offer is not enough to persuade them to sell their star player.

Contract Talks Stalled

Although it seems clear Tottenham will reject the latest offer for star striker Kane, his future at the team is still unknown. Team correspondent Alasdair Gold has reported that Kane is uncertain of his future. Speaking on YouTube, as reported here, Gold said:

“From what I understand from the player’s point of view, there’s no rush right now to commit, certainly during this transfer window. Essentially, he’s got to assess the big picture and what the future holds.”

This is apparently down to the striker being unsure of the success new manager Ange Postecoglou can bring to the side and he will wait to see how the season starts. This includes looking at other players Tottenham bring in and if Kane believes he will have the chance to fulfil his ambitions of winning trophies.

Holding Out for More?

With Bayern Munich keen to take the Englishman to Germany, and the player’s future reportedly up in the air, it could be that the North London side’s resolve will be tested more as the transfer window goes on.

If Tottenham will reject the latest offer for their star striker and indeed any others that come in, they put themselves at risk of losing the England captain for nothing next year. His contract expires next summer and he would be free to sign a pre-contract with clubs abroad from January.

Are the club holding out for more money or is it simply a case of there not being a fee big enough to convince them to sell?

Kane Could Be Irreplaceable

It remains to be seen if the Bavarians will increase their offer and if the Lillywhites stick to their guns. However, if the London club do agree to sell Kane it seems impossible to see how they replace him.

He has been their overall top scorer every season since the 2014/15 season, netting a total of 280 goals in all competitions during his time with the team. It could be that Tottenham see that sort of goal return as irreplaceable and will continue to refuse any offers for their star striker. This is despite the fact he might not sign a new contract.

So, keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the transfer saga because there are sure to be more in the near future.
