Tottenham’s Contract Details with Raya Revealed

Spurs are likely looking to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris, who suffered a number of injury issues last season and also showcased a major drop-off in form as well. It appears that they’re making moves for new signings after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the new manager.

Lloris has already hinted at his future, saying that he has reached “the end of an era” with Spurs.

Romano claims that the Lilywhites had positive talks with Raya’s agents over a transfer and are ready to offer him a long-term contract, with personal terms almost being reached as well. It is further stated that the Spanish goalkeeper is personally open to a move to the North London side, but that talks with Brentford will be crucial.

The Bees are going to be asking for at least £40 million to sell their prized possession, which is considered too high by Tottenham – adds Romano. This comes after Raya’s agent indicated that he would be willing to see out the rest of his contract with Brentford and leave for nothing next year if not granted a move in the summer.

What can Raya bring to Tottenham Hotspur?

The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who helped Brentford get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship in 2011 is a sweeper keeper who is renowned for his distribution ability which impressed Liverpool manager to the point where he admitted that Raya can play as a no.10.

Raya is also a solid shot-stopper and can command his area pretty well, knowing how to neutralize the opposition’s set-piece threat too. The Spaniard, who was hailed as ‘top class’ by Michael Owen last season, made 38 appearances in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign for Brentford and kept 12 clean sheets. He has already made his international debut with Spain and should be a quality addition for Spurs if they can get the deal over the line.
