United Not in Concrete Talks With Neymar Over Summer Move

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to sign a new striker in the summer window and have been linked to moves for Harry Kane as well as Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani among other options.

Romano insists that, at least as of now, there are no talks whatever between United and Les Parisiens for the possible summer transfer of Neymar. He adds that the current ownership structure at Old Trafford is not ready to make a move for the Brazilian star in the near future.

However, it is further stated that his current club have already internally discussed the possibility of selling Neymar in the summer window and are still looking for a solution regarding the future of the Brazilian star, knowing all too well that Lionel Messi could also walk out once his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old caused a major change in the transfer market after opting to join PSG from Barcelona in 2017 for a world-record transfer fee of over £190 million, and was quickly turned into the face of the French side’s project in the hopes to make them Europe’s best team.

Things haven’t really gone according to plan for the French side, with Neymar failing to help them win the Champions League – even though he’s won four Ligue 1 titles already. Neymar has had an amazing goals-to-game contribution rate at the club, having scored 118 goals and providing 77 assists in only 173 appearances for the French side in his career.

Neymar was even hailed as ‘an artist’ by PSG manager Christophe Galiter earlier this season, but he has struggled to impress for them in the biggest games and struggled with injury issues and disciplinary problems over the last few years, something that has seen him labelled a “prima donna” – with PSG fans getting so annoyed with him that some turned up outside his home recently demanding he be sold.

That is probably why the French side are reportedly looking to offload him in the upcoming window. It could also be why the Red Devils are making a smart decision in not trying to push for his signing. Neymar reportedly earns wages of over £600,000-a-week, which means United would need to fill a large chunk in their wage bill to accommodate him (even if that were for reduced wages).

With Erik ten Hag deciding to offload Cristiano Ronaldo last year due to his attitude issues, it’s probably smart not to sign a player like Neymar – who is known for being egotistical and could cause issues with his occasionally poor attitude at Old Trafford.
