The 29-year-old striker recently became a “record-setter” at Spurs becoming their all-time top scorer, breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 goals. Kane is currently on 270 goals but is yet to win a single piece of silverware with the London side in his career.

Romano adds that Tottenham are eager for the striker to sign a new deal with them. They’ll offer him a new contract soon and promise to make him the face of their project, but are currently waiting to see how things develop amid the uncertainty around the future of Antonio Conte.

United really appreciate the qualities of Kane and are interested in him, but are also aware that Spurs won’t negotiate his exit that easily. That is why Romano further states that they’re hopeful that the Spurs captain will push for a move to Old Trafford in the summer and convince Spurs to enter negotiations with the Red Devils over a possible deal.

The reason behind Kane being so attached to Spurs is that he’s been involved with the club for almost two decades, since joining them as an 11-year-old in 2004. He spent five years in their youth academy before getting his senior call-up, spending the first few seasons as a professional player on loan.

But the 29-year-old has been a mainstay at Spurs for the last nine seasons and has been an absolute goal machine for them. He’s averaged over 20 goals a season in all competitions for them since the 2014/15 campaign and has been one of the brightest sparks for the club. Kane has, in the past, been close to leaving and was involved in a transfer saga with Manchester City in 2021. However, Spurs have refused to negotiate a sale for him and are likely to make it extremely difficult for United to sign him in the summer.
