Absences

With a presumed formation change there are some midfield/attacking presences left out in return for added defenders. Riyad Mahrez isn’t involved in the front three and Phil Foden hasn’t earned a spot in the starting eleven.

Aymeric Laporte is left out in defence with other centre-backs chosen ahead of him.

Manchester City Confirmed Lineup

  • Ederson
  • Manuel Akanji
  • Ruben Dias
  • John Stones
  • Nathan Ake
  • Rodri
  • Kevin De Bruyne
  • Ilkay Gundogan
  • Bernardo Silva
  • Jack Grealish
  • Erling Haaland

Possible Formation

It would appear that Pep Guardiola is reverting to his trusty 4-3-3 formation for this one. He has experimented with a 3-2-4-1 formation and other variations recently. This time around the back four will likely see Ake and Stones operate on the flanks with Dias and Akanji at the centre of the defence.

In the midfield, Rodri will play as a deeper, defensive-minded midfielder to allow Gundogan and De Bruyne to play further afield and build up play. The front three of Grealish, Silva and Haaland is an interesting line up but not a new one.

RB Leipzig Confirmed Lineup

  • Janis Blaswich
  • Benjamin Henrichs
  • Willi Orban
  • Josko Gvardiol
  • David Raum
  • Emil Forsberg
  • Dominik Szoboszali
  • Amadou Haidara
  • Konrad Laimer
  • Kevin Kampl
  • Timo Werner

No Cristopher Nkunku for the second leg but a strong team from the Bundesliga side. Can they come away with the win?
