Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leicester City are seriously pushing to sign Leeds United winger Jack Harrison.

Romano also reported that the Whites are “set to make a decision later today” regarding his future. Only one place separates Leicester (14th) and Leeds (15th) in the Premier League, and Romano underlined that the club would need to find a replacement for the deal to materialise.

Leicester City Want to Sign Leeds United Winger Jack Harrison

Jesse Marsch Reluctant to Lose Him

Harrison was an indispensable member of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side that finished ninth in their debut season after promotion from the Championship. The Englishman struck 16 goals in his first two Premier League seasons but has only found the net once this term. Jesse Marsch recently labelled the player as ‘incredible’ and hopes to keep the forward, despite his patchy form.

The arrivals of young, dynamic and promising forwards such as Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra last summer, as well as the increased involvement of Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood, has meant competition at Elland Road is fierce. Harrison has been at Leeds since 2018, so a fresh challenge could be exactly what he needs.

Leicester City Aiming to Distance Themselves From the Relegation Zone

The Foxes have already signed Victor Kristiansen and Tete during the January window to strengthen their Premier League credentials. Brendan Rodgers’ side have lost four of their last five league games and sit precariously above the bottom three. Their other wingers, including Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez, have struggled for form and consistency so the signing of Harrison could provide a much-needed boost.

A Frantic Window for Leeds United

Jesse Marsch’s side have already spent over £40 million on Georginio Rutter and Maximilian Wober. The club also completed the impressive coup of USA International Weston McKennie from Juventus on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

After narrowly escaping relegation on the final day of last season, the Whites are looking to consolidate their top-flight status by adding some vital squad depth. The departure of Harrison would mean that another signing would be required, but it remains to be seen whether the winger’s move will be completed with such little time remaining in the window.
