Arsenal Set to Continue Talks for ‘Fantastic’ Defender; Player Open to Move – Romano

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have planned more talks, with the hope of signing Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda. The update from Romano also states that despite interest from Newcastle, the Gunners have planned talks for with both club and player, with the teenager reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal Target Valladolid Defender

Arsenal are set to continue talks next week as the club look to sign teenage right-back Fresneda from La Liga club Valladolid. The Spanish club would reportedly be prepared to sell the teenager in the January transfer window for a fee close to £13.1 million, but he does have a release clause worth £26 million. The release fee is valid until 2025.

Fresneda was left out of Valladolid’s starting lineup in their recent defeat to Atletico Madrid as the Gunners step up their pursuit of the Spanish under-19 international.

Despite missing out in their pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk, Arsenal have been active in the transfer market with the recent purchase of Leandro Trossard. The Premier League table toppers are also closing in on the signing of Spezia and Poland central defender Jakub Kiwior. The 22-year-old is reportedly on the verge of moving to the Emirates for £20 million.

What Ivan Fresneda Would Bring to Arsenal

Jose Rojo Martin the Valladolid head coach, known as Pacheta has described Fresneda as “fantastic“. When asked about the future of his right back, his coach was full of praise. He also stated his belief that the teenager’s future is destined to be away from his current club: “(Fresneda) only has a few games left in the Blanquivioleta shirt because he is 18 but does things that 30-year-old players do.”

This season has been a breakout season for Fresneda. When you see the youngster play, he operates with maturity and confidence way beyond his years. He is solid defensively and is rarely caught out. He also displays incredible technical qualities, which shine through when he joins in with attacks.
