Benoit Badiashile Becomes Chelsea’s Latest Winter Signing

The 21-year-old defender is ready to take a big step forward in his career with his move to Stamford Bridge in a bid to help improve their backline in the long term. Todd Boehly’s club will reportedly pay an amount of over just £30 million for his services, as they give Graham Potter his wishes of a quality left-footed centre-back who can play in the left side of a three-man backline. This could, however, spell trouble for their summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly – who hasn’t really had the most comfortable debut campaign with the London side since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

The Young Centre-Back Set to Be Key Part of Graham Potter’s Future Project

Chelsea are struggling to win games consistently. However, the London heavyweights have support from the off-pitch work from Todd Boehly in the form of new players. Despite spending the highest amount in transfer fees in the summer window, Chelsea’s appetite for signing new players hasn’t been fulfilled.

Benoit Badiashile has become their latest signing as they’re looking to create a formidable future project that could see them dominate the Premier League in the latter years of this decade.

The 21-year-old is a quality left-footed centre-back with 145 appearances for Monaco and appearances in the France national team debut, even at a young age. His ball-playing talent is unique, and he advances the ball up the pitch well. Similarly, his aerial presence is an incredible set-piece threat. Graham Potter will hope Badiashile can bring something different to his backline and help them get more clean sheets in the second half of the season.
