Saxon Earley Becomes the Second New Arrival at Home Park This Month

Plymouth Argyle, like a lot of EFL teams, rarely spend fees when bringing on board new talent. The Pilgrims are top of the league though and so this is anything but a regular season. Three days into the new year and the new transfer window, a new signing has been made as Saxon Earley joins Plymouth Argyle.

The Latest as Saxon Earley Joins Plymouth Argyle

One of the biggest discussions going on surrounding Plymouth Argyle is the future of the current loan crop. Morgan Whittaker is on the verge of being recalled by Swansea City whilst, when fit, Bali Mumba has been a true standout. The latter has occupied wingback and midfield roles during his time with the club so far, and the same can be said for this latest arrival.

Saxon Earley spent over a decade of his life with Norwich City but never made a senior appearance.

At the beginning of this season, he graduated into the first team and shortly after went out on loan further down the football pyramid. Stevenage was his destination and Earley made 20 league appearances for the side currently second in League Two.

What Role Will Saxon Earley Play?

As previously mentioned, Saxon Earley can play in multiple positions. Mostly he was a left-back during his spell at the Lamex Stadium, but the 20-year-old also frequented centre-half and left-mid. His final game for them, a 3-1 win over a struggling Crawley Town side, saw him play the full 90 at left-back.

Bali Mumba himself of course has ties with Norwich, they are his parent club after all. He, on top of that, is another of those who has played at left-wingback; he started there in the recent win over MK Dons on home soil after being rested against Wycombe Wanderers. Earley’s arrival gives Mumba some back-up.

Saxon Earley Joins Plymouth Argyle: Who Will Sign Next?

Argyle are the team to beat currently in League One and they have a number of major teams snapping at their coattails.

The next month or so will see them clash with their closest rivals, including Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Derby County. Earley’s addition as well as that of Ben Waine further deepens the squad and if reports are to be believed, there are plenty more signings to come.
