How Arsenal Have Lined-up Recently

The Gunners do not have the squad depth of Manchester City, and that means that Mikel Arteta doesn’t rotate his starting eleven all that often, particularly in the Premier League.

However, Gabriel Jesus’ injury at the World Cup, which will see him sidelined for up to three months, has seen Eddie Nketiah introduced into the side, and Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko will often rotate at left-back, with both players being somewhat injury prone this season. For the most part, though, Arteta has a clear first-choice starting line-up, and that is what he sticks to.

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

Arsenal are in incredible form right now and have won all five of their last five Premier League fixtures. Scoring early has become a regular occurrence for the Gunners, most recently opening the scoring against Brighton and Hove Albion inside the first two minutes.

Their fast starts go hand in hand with their style of play. Arteta’s side plays on the front foot, regardless of opposition, and press high up the pitch with great intensity. The use of Ben White and either Tierney or Zinchenko as inverted full-backs allow the league leaders to suffocate the midfield and overwhelm their opponents as a result, leading to plenty of goalscoring chances for the Gunners early on in the game.

Arsenal Injuries to Consider

Most notably, the Gunners will be without Gabriel Jesus, who is still sidelined after suffering an injury at the Qatar World Cup. Additionally, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe are also both doubts for the game, although Arteta did reveal that the latter has “made big steps in the last week.”
