According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are preparing a significant bit for Austrian left-back Max Wober. Wober would fill a gap in the squad that the Whites have struggled with for some time, leaving a striker as the main remaining gap in the squad.

Leeds United Preparing Bid for Max Wober

Who is Max Wober?

Max Wober is a major player in RB Salzburg’s current structure. The 24-year-old is the captain at the Austrian Bundesliga club, having joined from Sevilla in 2019 for a reported fee of around £10.5 million. The young wing-back has earned 81 appearances for the side since then, scoring five and bringing a lot of leadership to the squad.

The Austrian has played the vast majority of his football at left-back this season, but in the same ilk as Pascal Struijk has plenty of experience at centre-back. Signing Wober means that the back line will have even more flexibility than before.

What Does the Bid Look Like?

The bid is a fairly simple one. An initial fee of around £9.5 million is in place, with the potential for approximately £4.5 million of add-ons depending on the club and player’s performance.

Since Victor Orta joined the club, his transfer business is questionable in some cases. However, signing Wober at such a cut price in a vital position would be a great show of intention for Leeds United in the market.

What Business Do Leeds Have Left?

In spite of filling this gap, Elland Road is likely to stay busy throughout the window. Cody Drameh is a player that a lot of clubs have an interest in, with Mateusz Klich also on the receiving end of interest from DC United.

In terms of incomings, Leeds United remain in the hunt for a centre-forward, with Patrick Bamford dealing with unending injuries and Rodrigo occasionally struggling with poor form.
