Socceroos to Break Records? – Australia Predicted Lineup vs Argentina

Tim Cahill leading a training session for the Australia predicted lineup

Australia have already matched their best-ever World Cup finish, and a victory today could see the Socceroos break their own records. Take a look at Last Word on Football’s Australia predicted lineup for the country’s clash with a rampant Argentina.

Australia Predicted Lineup vs Argentina

How Australia Have Lined-up Recently

Australia play in a fairly simple 4-4-2. Mathew Ryan starts in net with Kye Rowles and Harry Souttar at centre-back. Milos Degenek and Aziz Behich play at full-back, mostly sitting in deep positions.

Aaron Mooy plays in the centre of midfield with Jackson Irvine, as Mathew Leckie and Craig Goodwin start on the flanks. Mitchell Duke and Riley McGree play as strikes at the top of the field.

Australia Recent Form and Tactics

Australia have a relatively odd run of form. The first match of the competition saw a hammering against France, conceding four goals even after scoring the first of the match. Victories against Tunisia and Denmark were enough to pull the Australians out of the group and meet the Argentinians in the round of sixteen.

Of all the teams left in the World Cup, Argentina could be the perfect opponents for Australia. La Albiceleste play an attacking form of football with a relatively deep back like, so a counter-attacking side like the Socceroos could thrive. There’s definite upset potential in this one.

Australia Injuries to Consider

Australia have no new injury concerns, with Nathaniel Atkinson returning to full fitness but missing out on a place in the squad.
