Mikel Arteta Gives Update on Arsenal’s January Transfer Window

Arteta Gives Cheeky Answer to Transfer Business Questions

The Gunners had a prolific summer transfer window in which they made some very smart signings that helped take them to another level this season. They roped in Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, with the former being a revelation that has helped them soar to the top of the Premier League table.  They also brought in Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira, USA goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazilian youngster Marquinhos to bolster their future options.

But there is speculation that the Gunners will again look to do some business in the winter transfer window. Arteta addressed these questions and said: “With the position that we are in right now, it demands as well another level of player. That player has to be available. We will look at everything and let’s see what we can do.”

Arsenal’s Strongly Linked to Move for Facundo Torres

One player who is being heavily linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium in the winter transfer window is Orlando City star Facundo Torres – whose agent confirmed that transfer talks with the North London club are imminent. With the Gunners yet to sign a replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who was sent on loan to Nice in the summer and is unlikely to be in Arteta’s future plans, there is a feeling that they could go shopping in the MLS again after Turner’s heroics in the Europa League.

Torres has made 40 appearances for the American side, scoring 13 goals and providing ten assists, including 17 goal contributions in the 2022 MLS campaign. The 22-year-old has been described as ‘an awesome player’ by MLS experts and is someone who loves to dribble and cut into the middle from the wings. It remains to be seen if Arsenal do make a move for the Uruguayan winger and do any business after the FIFA World Cup.
