Erik ten Hag Announces Squad Traveling for UEFA Europa League

Manchester United recently revealed the squad travelling to Spain for the upcoming game against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League.

Erik ten Hag and co. will be looking to top Group E as they take on the Spanish club on November 3 in an all-important match in the Europa League. The Red Devils trail behind Sociedad and only a win will see them top the group. United are determined to finish at the top, as that could ensure a better draw in the next round of the tournament. They lost their first group game 1-0 to the Spanish side.

Cristiano Ronaldo Will Travel to Spain While Anthony Misses Out

Ahead of their crucial game against Sociedad, United announced the players who will be boarding the flight to Spain. 

Following an illness, Victor Lindelof makes the squad. The Swedish international was unavailable during the Red Devils’ English Premier League game against West Ham United, which the side won 1-0.

It was also announced that Brazilian star Anthony and forward Anthony Martial will not be joining the squad and will remain at Carrington to “continue their individual training work.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo will make it to Spain following the infamous walkout against Chelsea. He has since made up with Ten Hag and was reintegrated into the squad. Ronaldo also started the previous Europa League game against FC Sheriff.

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Martin Dubravka, Radek Vitek.

Defenders: Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Midfielders: Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Fred, Casemiro, Facundo Pellistri, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Zidane Iqbal.

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Shola Shoretire, Alejandro Garnacho.

Jadon Sancho Also Misses Out on United’s Squad in the Europa League

Star winger Jadon Sancho will also miss out on Manchester United’s game against Real Sociedad. According to an update from the club, the English star is ill and did not make it to Ten Hag’s final 23-man squad. 

Sancho was also absent from the club’s latest home again against West Ham over the weekend. It has been reported that he could be suffering from a knock and will be back in time for United’s final games ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ten Hag reiterated the same, stating that the former Borussia Dortmund star is indeed injured. He also added that Anthony Martial has been recuperating well from his injury and is slowly progressing towards full fitness.

It remains to be seen how United will fare against a difficult opposition in Sociedad.
