Kylian Mbappe is looking to force a move away from Paris Saint-Germain after the player’s relationship with the club has fallen apart. According to Jason Burt of the Telegraph, some promises “have not been kept”, upsetting the player who now reportedly regrets signing a contract extension.

Why is the French Forward Forcing a Move?
Mbappe has a few reasons to be dissatisfied at the French club. Since his contract extension, the club has failed to sign a high-quality number 9. This has left the Frenchman dissatisfied with his club, as he reportedly was promised a signing in this position so he didn’t have to play there. Failing to sign a striker in the last window is understandable, as the French champions are already jam-packed with quality attacking talent.
Dissatisfaction with Neymar
The striker has also suffered from a poor relationship with Neymar over the past few months. He has previously stated that their relationship has always “had hotter and colder moments”, and with the Brazilian and Lionel Messi improving in recent months, this could be a case of the pacey forward feeling like the rest of the talent in the French capital is overshadowing him. The two have kept playing together, but that isn’t necessarily promising for their off-pitch relationship.
What are Paris Saint-Germain’s Options?
Keep Kylian Mbappe
The first option PSG have is keeping the forward on the books. Mbappe signed a new contract with the player relatively recently, and with this being one of the most lucrative deals of all time with someone that is a generational talent, the club hardly need to sell him. This is especially the case when you consider their owners. Qatar’s state effectively owns the French champions, and with them being the World Cup hosts for this year, Mbappe forcing a move away isn’t the sort of PR the hierarchy will want.
Sell Kylian Mbappe
Selling the young superstar is a move that could prove to be incredibly difficult. There are very few clubs the player could go to considering his wage and professional history, with Real Madrid likely dropping out of the race for Mbappe after being snubbed in the last transfer window. One option for the French striker is Liverpool. Mbappe has previously contacted Jurgen Klopp’s side about a move before deciding on staying at his current club. Liverpool’s current form could dissuade him from the move if it continues.
