Dutch Star Reflects on Her Time at United

The 27-year-old winger has joined PSG Feminine for a reported fee of around £130,000 pounds, making her the most expensive Dutch female player in history. She has also signed a three-year contract with the French giants valid until June 2025. Groenen is leaving the Red Devils having spent three memorable years with them, including the Covid-19 season where she was awarded the PFA Community Champion award for her social welfare work and contribution to grassroots development.

Groenen sent a message to United regarding her time with the club, stating: “I’ve had such a great time representing this wonderful football club. I’d like to thank the Manchester United staff, players, and fans for believing in me, and I will definitely follow the club’s achievements with great interest.”

Groenen’s Career So Far Recapped

The Dutch star has made 92 appearances for her national side, scoring nine goals for them. She was also part of the UEFA Women’s Euros winning team in 2017 and the team that finished as runners-up in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Despite her success at international level, the 27-year-old winger is yet to taste silverware at domestic level and was not able to win any trophies with United during her three-year stay with the club.

She will bring a lot of experience to the PSG side, having played at a high level of European club football for over eight years. Groenen has featured for the likes of Chelsea, Eintracht Frankfurt and United – making over 200 career appearances at domestic level, scoring 25 goals.

She made 60 appearances for the red side of Manchester, suffering injury issues at times, but wasn’t able to score in 60 Super League appearances, only getting four assists. Despite that, the 27-year-old is a hard worker on the pitch and full of skill, leading to ex-United manager Casey Stoney describing her as “fantastic.”
