Tottenham Hotspur are holding discussions with the Premier League over potentially switching the venue of their game against Leicester City next weekend, reports The Athletic. This is amid doubts over whether football matches can be held in London next weekend due to clashes with the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

London Clubs in Dilemma on Hosting Matches Next Weekend
The Premier League matches that were scheduled to take place this weekend were all postponed in a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Thursday. But the UK government has given permission to football league bodies allowing them to host games even during the State Funeral weekend.
However, the London clubs are well aware that doing so in the capital might be impossible because police officers will all be deployed to do their duties in and around the place of the funeral. That is why Tottenham are discussing potentially playing their scheduled home game at an ‘away venue’ outside London as a way to take away some of the pressure from the Metropolitan Police.

The Athletic state that if this is somehow agreed, then the game might take place at Leicester’s King Power Stadium – basically acting as a home game for the Foxes. However, there are major barriers in front of this entire discussion because of how difficult it can be for a club to host such an important game at such short notice.
Premier League Risk Fixture Pile-up Nightmare With Further Postponement
The reason why the Premier League and its clubs do not want to postpone even more games is that the season is anyways going to be impacted by the Qatar World Cup, which starts on November 20. Further postponing games can cause a major fixture pile-up for later into the season, meaning teams might not have the necessary gap in between games in the second half of the campaign.

Tottenham seems to be eager to play the game next week, knowing that not being able to do so will see them play the next Premier League game all the way later on October 1, against arch-rivals Arsenal.
The Lilywhites are currently third in the Premier League table, just one point behind their North London neighbours.
