Liverpool Lineup Predictions Ahead of Ferocious Merseyside Derby Against Everton

Arthur Melo Liverpool Lineup

With passionate striker Darwin Nunez now available after his suspension, Liverpool take on Everton at Goodison Park in what is sure to be a fiery affair. Find out what Last Word on Football predicts to be the Liverpool lineup against the Toffees.

How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently

Liverpool have recently lined up in a 4-3-3 formation. This consists of Alisson playing in goal, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sitting in front of the Brazilian. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson play at right-back and left-back respectively.

The bank of three in midfield has been inconsistent thanks to injuries, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho preferred as supporting players to Harvey Elliott’s attacking flair. With Darwin Nunez’s suspension, Roberto Firmino starts in the centre of Luis Diaz and Mo Salah.

Liverpool Recent Form and Tactics

Jurgen Klopp has retained his 4-3-3 with a gegenpressing structure, winning the ball back as soon as possible after a turnover of possession. The formation is perfect for this, allowing the wing backs to bomb on as necessary and add further influence to the attack whilst Fabinho and Jordan Henderson provide cover.

Any changes that the German coach has made this season have come from necessity. The side is ravaged by injury, which has removed the experienced manager’s ability to actively make tactical decisions.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider

The most influential injury that the Reds are struggling with is to Jordan Henderson. He is expecting an extended period out of the side, missing up to five games. With fellow midfielders Thiago, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also out injured, the Liverpool manager has a difficult decision to make in the middle of the pitch. Diogo Jota, however, is expected to make the squad.

At the back, Caoimhin Kelleher remains out, with Ibrahima Konate likely to return in the international break. Full-back Calvin Ramsay is also struggling with an injury. Recent signing Arthur Melo is not likely to be ready to play.

Liverpool Lineup Prediction

The Reds once again line up in a 4-3-3, featuring the following players:

  • GK – Alisson
  • LB – Andrew Robertson
  • CB – Virgil van Dijk
  • CB – Joe Gomez
  • RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
  • CM – Fabinho
  • CM – James Milner
  • CM – Harvey Elliott
  • LW – Luis Diaz
  • ST – Darwin Nunez
  • RW – Mo Salah

Current Odds: Everton vs Liverpool
