Dutch forward Cody Gakpo is set to remain at PSV Eindhoven amid transfer interest from multiple Premier League clubs over the summer, as per reliable journalist David Ornstein.

The Dutch forward scored 21 goals in all competitions for PSV last season and as a result of these impressive figures. Gakpo has garnered a lot of interest from the Premier League over the summer transfer window.

Manchester United looked set to swoop in for the forward whom new manager Erik ten Hag holds in very high regard from his days in Holland. The Red Devils eventually completed the signing of main target Antony from Ajax. This meant that any further business for Gakpo was now unlikely.

Since United pull out from the transfer, several Premier League clubs have explored the possibility of a deal for the electric left winger. The most prominent and advanced deals being that of Southampton and Leeds United.

Southampton were also reported to have agreed a deal with PSV for the player but after wide consultations with the player’s camp. The Eredivisie club has decided to keep the player.

Disappointment for Leeds United and Southampton

The Premier League pair were in a definite race to sign the Dutch forward before transfer deadline, but PSV have decided to keep their academy graduate beyond the summer and remain hopeful that he will sign a new contract. The current Eredivisie leaders are aware that Cody Gakpo would be important in the ambition to win the league this season.
