The Brazilian took his tally to three for the season in his last outing as the Gunners edged out Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, versatile Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko arrived from Premier League rivals Manchester City and Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto. USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner is a lower-key addition (from the New England Revolution) brought in to deputise to Ramsdale following the departure of Bernd Leno to Fulham.

One other name that has been bandied about regularly over the last month or two is Youri Tielemans. The Leicester City midfielder is keen on a move and has just one year left on his contract.

Even the most optimistic of Arsenal fans wouldn’t have been expecting this start to the new season. The Arsenal transfers this summer are paying off, especially Jesus. He has brought a new dimension to Mikel Arteta’s attacking unit, and they are currently top of the league.

Erling Haaland may be breaking records in the blue of Manchester City but it is Pep Guardiola’s protégé who holds the top spot. With a flawless record of five wins in five, Arsenal really are firing on all cylinders.
