‘Finally Closing In’ – Fabrizio Romano Has Transfer Update for Chelsea Fans With Thomas Tuchel Set to See Young Duo Depart the Club

Chelsea Young Players

Chelsea are reportedly about to let two young players leave as both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu are closing in on moves away from the team. Odoi is headed to Bayer Leverkusen on loan, while Ampadu is set to join Serie A side Spezia also on a temporary deal.

These reports come from Fabrizio Romano who tweeted out an update on both players: “Chelsea are finally closing in on two departures: Callum Hudson-Odoi will join Bayer Leverkusen on loan in the next hours, deal set to be completed soon

“Ethan Ampadu will fly to Italy as medical’s booked on Tuesday to join Serie A side Spezia on loan. It’s done.”

Young Players Preparing to Leave Chelsea on Loan

Callum Hudson-Odoi

The English youth has been in and around the first team for some time now. He is one of the few academy graduates to have avoided the “loan army” so far, but his streak ends now.  He has made 126 appearances as a Blue without really solidifying a spot in the squad; maybe a loan away will unlock his full potential.

Fans will be happy to see the youngster leave temporarily rather than on a permanent deal.

Ethan Ampadu

While his English counterpart has avoided the loan system so far, the Welsh defender has not had such luck.  He has had three different loan spells since joining from Exeter City in 2017. His first was an unsuccessful spell in Germany with RB Leipzig but he followed that up with a stellar loan stint with Sheffield United in the Premier League.
