Erik Ten Hag Wants to Bring Gakpo to Old Trafford

The Dutch winger suffered bitter disappointment on Wednesday when his side failed to defeat Rangers in the Champions League qualifiers. This means that PSV will not be able to play in the elite competition this season, which could make a move to Old Trafford all the more attractive for the forward.

Erik ten Hag has ‘admired’ the quality of Gakpo ‘for years’ after having seen him excel in the Eredivisie over the past few years. Before anything can proceed, the Red Devils need to find an agreement with PSV over the signing of the Dutch international. The Manchester side will probably have to pay around £35 million for him, but Ten Hag & co are now seemingly ready to accelerate the process.

United Eyeing Double Raid on Eredivisie

Of course, Gakpo is not the only player from the Dutch league that the Red Devils are eyeing. They are also keen on signing Brazilian winger Antony – who excelled under Ten Hag at Ajax. United are reportedly confident of agreeing a deal for the 22-year-old forward and even willing to pay upwards of £75 million for him.

However, it doesn’t seem like that has diminished their interest in Gakpo. They remain in the race for him and are now ready to accelerate the process for his signing after seeing his side’s Champions League hopes get crushed.

Gakpo is regarded as one of the most promising attacking players in the Eredivisie. He was impressive last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists in 27 league games. The 23-year-old has already made over 200 appearances in his professional career, scoring 72 goals and providing 48 assists. He can greatly improve the depth in United’s attacking line and add more goals to the team – something they desperately need.
