Manchester United Look To Add Four New Key Signings Before Window Closes

United Prioritise Antony – New Bid Expected and Personal Terms Agreed

United’s priority in recent weeks has been Ajax’s Antony, who worked with Ten Hag throughout his time in Amsterdam. The Manchester side had a £67.5 million bid rejected on August 18, which then spurred Antony to force his club’s hand into overseeing his transfer.

He refused to partake in two consecutive training sessions and was omitted from his side’s weekend game against Sparta Rotterdam on August 21.

Ten Hag and his team are expected to table a new and improved bid of £84.4 million in the coming days and have already agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old on a five-year deal. Alfred Schreuder’s side are financially secure enough to reject any further advances from United, however, the Brazilian has handed in a transfer request, so it is likely an agreement will be reached.

Club Offered Decorated Real Madrid Star

United have been offered the chance to sign three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensio of Real Madrid, who is actively seeking a new club this summer. The Reds have already added experienced midfielders this summer in the form of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, yet may look to sign another to further strengthen their depth and attacking options.

The Spaniard is likely to cost around £25.3 million and whilst United have not ruled out making an offer, they are focusing primarily on the Antony deal before turning their attention anywhere else.

Sergino Dest Told to Leave Barcelona

Sergino Dest is another player who has played under Ten Hag and has been linked with a move to the Red Devils. The right-back has been explicitly told to find a new club by Barcelona manager Xavi, as there is no guarantee of a place in the starting lineup this season for the 21-year-old.

Whilst United have not made a concrete move for the American, they still have one week to approach Dest and test the waters of his thoughts on a Premier League switch. His price tag has reportedly been set at £16.8 million.

Ten Hag Looks to Fellow Premier League Side for Alternative to David de Gea

Dean Henderson joining Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan, as well as David de Gea’s poor start to the 2022/2023 campaign, has pushed Ten Hag to find an experienced goalkeeper alternative.

The club showed interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp before he took to Instagram to assure fans of his plans to stay in Germany. United have since proposed a loan move, with a £5 million option to buy clause, for Martin Dubravka of Newcastle United.
