Manchester United Seriously Targeting ‘Impressive’ Forward in ‘Absolute Bargain’ £25 Million Swoop

According to Mike McGrath and Jason Burt of The Telegraph, Yannick Carrasco has become a “serious” target for Manchester United as they step up their interest in the “impressive” Belgian international. The report details how the 28-year-old is high on Erik ten Hag‘s list of potential signings, with the Red Devils considering an “absolute bargain” £25 million swoop for his signature.

Belgian International High on Red Devils Wishlist

Manchester United have endured a nightmare start to their Premier League campaign losing to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford and leaving the club bottom of the league.

Frenkie de Jong has been patiently pursued all summer, but his arrival at Old Trafford is not looking likely and with Adrien Rabiot’s wage demands stalling that deal, it has been a horrendous few weeks on and off the pitch for the red half of Manchester. Following the lack of progress on those two deals, reports suggest United have shifted their focus to Real Madrid‘s Casemiro, with the Red Devils now also looking to bolster their attacking pool by targeting Carrasco.

After the 4‐0 loss away to Brentford, Ten Hag reiterated his desire for new signings when he told Sky Sports: “I think we need new players. We need quality players and we are working on that. We will do everything we can to bring them in.”

What Carrasco Would Bring to Old Trafford

Despite being a wide player who is adept on either wing, Carrasco is much more than a conventional winger. He is at his best with the ball at his feet, where he can use his close control and pace to get past defenders. He is unpredictable, which makes him difficult to read for opposition players.

It’s his unpredictability that makes him such an intriguing watch. During the 2021‐22 La Liga season, the Belgian attacker appeared 44 times for Atletico Madrid in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing seven assists. Carrasco is also a threat from dead ball situations, which he has shown throughout his career.

He has grown immensely during his time in Madrid, and will bring some excitement to a Manchester United team that is devoid of creativity and confidence at the moment.
